  Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States of America.  Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Austin has a breath-taking landscape sculpted by rolling hills to the west and blackland prairie to the east.  The city is built on a unique geological formation of caves, bubbling streams, and contrasting landforms.  This geography has shaped the city's culture, from cattle drives along the historic Chisholm Trail to the strategic construction of Interstate 35 in 1956, to the vibrant eco-culture that Austinites enjoy today. While you are here, we invite you to enjoy the city's natural beauty like locals do at Zilker Park, Barton Springs, the Botanical Gardens, or kayaking on Lady Bird Lake.

"Deep in the heart of Texas," Austin is a vibrant cultural nexus that offers something for everyone. While you are out and about, be stop for a moment at any one of the more than 250 regular venues sprinkled around the city to enjoy the live music that has helped Austin to earn the title "Live Music Capitol of the World."  Austin is so well known for its live music that each year in March tens of thousands of music fans from all over the world come to attend SXSW and take in the Austin culture.  Also, be sure to visit our award-winning restaurants and food trailers, whose culinary delights have been hailed on the Food Network and Travel Chanel.

The University of Texas at Austin

Nestled next to the city center is The University of Texas at Austin (UT).  Founded in 1883 with one building, eight teachers, and 221 students, UT has grown in the last 132 years to house over 50,000 students and 17 colleges and schools.  The university prides itself on its diverse student populations and hosts over 6,000 faculty, staff, and students from more than 120 countries and, in light of this view, in 2013, Times ranked The University of Texas at Austin as one of the top 25 universities in the world.
